Bachata is more than dancing, it is a way of life in the Dominican Republic. Bachata originated in the rural and working class neighborhood of the Dominican Republic in the mid 20th centery. Bachata is called musica de Amargue (music of bitterness), where its lyrics focus heavily on the lost love, jealousy, deep longing, desire, and nostalgia. This is why we decided to that our second edition’s theme for this years festival is “From the Island to the Soul”
